Cost of a gorilla permit in Uganda.
Trekking mountain gorillas in any gorilla national park of your choice in Uganda goes for seven hundred dollars (700$) per head. The amount may somewhat seem expensive but all you need to know is that the expedition is worth the money. Important to remember is that this fee is inclusive of park fee, ranger fee, government taxes, conservation fee and part of it goes to local communities neighboring national parks.
Gorilla permits in Uganda are mandatory to whoever is planning to be part of a gorilla trekking safari in the country. This the legal document is used by the government to get insights into the number of tourists who pay a visit to the country.
Gorilla Trekking.
In an effort to ensure minimal disturbance to mountain gorillas, a maximum of eight people are assigned to trek a specific habituated gorilla group on a daily basis. Trekking gorillas in any park may last for thirty minutes to eight hours depending on your choice and the movement of gorilla group being trekked.
Today, a total of 160 gorilla permits are issued in Uganda on a daily basis. In Bwindi Impenetrable national park, there are 19 habituated gorilla families available for trekking in the four sectors. There are eight gorilla permits available every day in Bwindi forest national park situated in two habituation families in the southern wing of the forest. Just like in Bwindi, eight permits are also issued daily to trek the single gorilla family in Mgahinga national park.
Important to note is that during the dry months of June to October and December to February there is always a stiff competition for these gorilla permits. Much as the other months of the year are reliable for trekking, it is advisable to book your gorilla trekking permit ten months before making you way to Uganda to avoid last-minute inconveniences.

Gorilla permits in Rwanda go for one thousand five hundred dollars (1500$). Mountain gorillas in Rwanda can be found in the mighty volcanoes national park – a spectacular home of gorillas engrossed by the beautiful Virunga volcanoes and luxurious lodges and camps.

Gorilla trekking permits in DRC go for four hundred dollars (400$) exclusive of accommodation, transport prices, risks due to insecurity – something that makes the price seem somehow cheaper than Uganda and Rwanda. Mountain gorillas in DRC can be traced in areas of Virunga national park, while Kahuzi-Biega national park in the south is known for eastern lowland gorillas.
