Detailed 10-Day Gorillas & Big Five Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up & drive to Bwindi
Your journey begins from Entebbe city to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. The drive takes about 8 to 9 hours, but you will enjoy several interesting stops along the way.
Stop at the Equator for photos and demonstrations, then proceed to Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch and refreshments. Continue the journey through the Kigezi region and enjoy the hilly countryside before arriving at Bwindi National Park for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking
Today is the big day for your gorilla trekking experience. After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing about trekking rules and group assignments. Each group will track one habituated gorilla family, with a maximum of eight people per group.
The trek through the forest can take 2 to 6 hours, depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find them, you will have one hour to observe and photograph them as they feed, play, and interact. This experience also supports gorilla conservation in Uganda. In the afternoon, visit the Batwa pygmies’ community for traditional dances and cultural storytelling before returning to the lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 3: Bwindi – Entebbe & Masai Mara
After breakfast, transfer to Kihihi or Kisoro airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe. Upon arrival, connect to another flight to Kenya’s Masai Mara Reserve. The reserve covers 1,510 square kilometers and is home to a large population of wildlife, including all the Big Five, wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, and cheetahs. Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.
Day 4: Full-day game drive in Masai Mara
Spend the day exploring Masai Mara on morning and afternoon game drives in a 4×4 safari vehicle. The morning drive allows you to spot early risers such as lions, elephants, and hyenas, while the afternoon is ideal for seeing grazing animals and birds. After the day’s adventures, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Masai Mara to Serengeti
After breakfast, set out for Serengeti National Park in Tanzania via the Isebania border. The journey is scenic and offers chances to see wildlife along the way. Serengeti is famous for its Big Five—lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffaloes—and for the great migration of wildebeest and zebras. Arrive at your lodge for dinner and relaxation.
Day 6: Full-day wildlife safari
After breakfast, enjoy a full day of game viewing in Serengeti. Take morning and afternoon game drives to spot wildlife such as wildebeest, gazelles, zebras, cheetahs, leopards, and lions. You will also see many birds and smaller animals throughout the plains. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and rest.
Day 7: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, start your journey to Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most famous wildlife destinations in Africa. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive in the crater area, where you can spot rhinos, lions, elephants, buffaloes, and many other species.
Day 8: Game drive & transfer to Lake Manyara
Enjoy an early morning game drive in Ngorongoro to spot animals you might have missed the previous day. Afterward, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, known for its tree-climbing lions, elephants, hippos, and flamingos. Take a late afternoon game drive before heading to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 9: Full-day Lake Manyara exploration
Spend the day exploring Lake Manyara National Park. You will see animals such as zebras, giraffes, impalas, elephants, hippos, bushbucks, and flamingos. The park’s mix of forest, grassland, and lake habitats makes it ideal for wildlife photography and relaxation. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Departure
After breakfast, start your journey back to Nairobi. Enjoy views of the countryside along the way and stop for lunch en route. Your driver will drop you off at the airport for your departure flight.
End of safari.
