Detailed 20-Day East Africa Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Pickup and Kampala city tour
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our guide will meet and brief you about your 20-day East African safari adventure. Visit the Reptile Village in Entebbe to see snakes, tortoises, and chameleons. Later, enjoy lunch in Kampala and visit the museum and local markets before checking into your hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, begin a scenic 5–6-hour drive to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest park, known for its powerful waterfalls. Stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking, then continue with lunch en route before checking into your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise
Start the day with coffee before a 3–4-hour morning game drive in the northern sector of Murchison Falls. You may see lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, giraffes, and antelopes. Return for lunch, then take a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, where the Nile forces its way through a 7-meter gorge. Expect to spot hippos, crocodiles, and many bird species before returning for dinner and rest.
Day 4: Top of the falls hike and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, hike to the top of Murchison Falls for a beautiful view of the river and rainbow mist. Later, embark on a long but scenic 8–9-hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through hilly landscapes and green plantations. Lunch will be en route, and you will arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking and cultural encounter
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules. Trekking can take 1–6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once you find them, spend an hour observing and photographing them. Return for lunch and visit the Batwa pygmies in the afternoon for traditional songs, dances, and storytelling. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 6: Departure to Nairobi city
After breakfast, drive to Entebbe Airport, stopping at the Equator for photos and lunch. Fly to Nairobi, where our representative will meet and brief you about your Kenya safari. Transfer to your hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 7: Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, home to flamingos and rhinos. Stop at the Great Rift Valley for photography and enjoy lunch en route. Arrive in the evening for dinner and rest at your lodge.
Day 8: Full-day Lake Nakuru exploration
Spend the day exploring Lake Nakuru National Park. Look out for elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, and antelopes, along with flamingos and kingfishers. Have a picnic lunch by the lakeshore before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Transfer to Masai Mara Reserve
After breakfast, drive to Masai Mara Reserve, one of Africa’s top wildlife destinations. Stop for lunch on the way, then enjoy a short evening game drive upon arrival. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 10: Full-day game drive
After an early breakfast, spend the day exploring Masai Mara. This park is home to lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, giraffes, and zebras. During the migration season, you may also witness thousands of wildebeest crossing the Mara River. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 11: Drive to Serengeti National Park via Isebania border
After breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park in Tanzania through the Isebania border. Complete immigration formalities before continuing to Serengeti. Lunch will be en route. Arrive at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 12: Full-day game drive
Enjoy a full-day game drive in Serengeti. The park is famous for its large herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffaloes, elephants, and antelopes, as well as predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. After a picnic lunch, continue exploring before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 13: Maasai cultural encounter
After breakfast, visit a Maasai village to learn about their culture and traditions. Enjoy traditional dances, storytelling, and a guided tour of their homesteads. Return to the lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 14: Game drive and transfer to Ngorongoro Crater
Take an early morning game drive in Serengeti to spot any animals you may have missed. After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater with a stop at Olduvai Gorge, a famous archaeological site. Continue to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 15: Crater rim hike and game drive
After breakfast, enjoy a hike on the crater rim to see birds, primates, and the vast crater view. Later, go on a game drive inside the crater, home to the Big Five, zebras, wildebeest, and cheetahs. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 16: Fly to Zanzibar
After a short nature walk, have breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, meet our representative and transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 17: Stone Town and spice plantation tour
After breakfast, explore Stone Town’s narrow streets, old buildings, and markets. Visit landmarks like the cathedral, museum, and old forts. After lunch, visit the spice plantations to learn about and taste spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Return to your hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 18: Jozani National Park and relaxation
After breakfast, visit Jozani Chwaka National Park to see the rare Zanzibar red colobus monkeys, along with other primates, birds, and plants. After the walk, return to your lodge for lunch and a relaxed afternoon. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 19: Relaxation at Zanzibar beaches
Spend the day relaxing on Zanzibar’s white-sand beaches. Swim, sunbathe, or enjoy seafood meals by the ocean. In the evening, have dinner and rest at your lodge.
Day 20: Departure
After breakfast, check out and drive to the airport for your flight back home or to your next destination.
