Safari in Details

Day one: pickup, Kigali city tour and drive to Volcanoes national park

On this day, our company representative will meet and brief you about what to expect on the trip. It will be at the airport, your hotel, or residence before starting the Journey which might last for about 2-3 hours after the City tour. You will visit the local markets to purchase a few missing Items, exchange money for local currency and learn the ways of the city dwellers.

Thereafter, you will go for lunch around the city, followed by a rewarding visit to the Genocide memorial site, before proceeding to volcanoes national park. A drive that leaves you exposed to undulating hills, flourishing landscape, and a variety of scattered homesteads all around the region. You will arrive late in the evening for refreshments, followed by dinner and a nap.

Day Two: Gorilla trekking and visit to twin lakes

At about 06:00 hours, you will enjoy a delicious mouth-watering breakfast meal at the lodge, followed by an exit with all your tracking tools to the park’s headquarters for registration, pre trekking briefing, and allocation to the Gorilla family of your Choice. You will be shown different documentaries about these gentle Apes, and then told the regulations governing the Jungle, before the actual 1-6 hours’ track, plus one extra hour of closely studying the family, right from their team leader; the dominant silverback, to the other family members such as mothers feeding their young ones, adolescents somersaulting and the infant s hugging their guardians tightly.

Photos and questions are welcome in this one hour before returning to the lodge for lunch, and then a rewarding evening of Fun, adventure, and relaxing by the calm waters of Lake Burera and Ruhondo (the twin Lakes). Sights and sound of birds and several creatures will come your way before enjoying an amazing sunset drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day Three: Departure after Dian Fossey grave hike

A tasty breakfast meal comes your way first thing today, before having an optional hike to Dian Fossey graveyard; a conservationist who devoted her entire life to the rescue, study, and conservation of the unique creatures (the mountain gorillas). She was laid to rest together with her family the gorillas at the footsteps of the giant Virunga Mountains, a few kilometers from her Karisoke research center introduced by her. Thereafter, you will embark on a journey to the airport, your residence or accommodation around the park.
