La Locanda Hotel Rwanda – Boutique Stay Near Virunga Volcanoes

The land of a thousand hills is home to La Locanda Hotel, which is easily accessed by road transport. Road travel is cheap and flexible, allowing tourists to make stopovers at markets, trading centers, and major cities in Rwanda. Visitors from East African countries can enter Rwanda with only a national ID, while others require a passport.

International visitors usually arrive by air from countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, and Mexico. After landing at Kigali International Airport, they can either drive to the hotel or take a short flight to Ruhengeri Airstrip. From there, it is a 30-minute drive to the hotel. Guests can rest in one of the six spacious self-contained rooms that overlook the Virunga Volcanoes.

The rooms are built in a traditional African style and decorated with wooden floors. They include flushing toilets, bathrobes, flat-screen TVs, air conditioning, satellite connection, sofa chairs, safety boxes, complimentary bottled water, free toiletries, terraces, and access to a quiet garden. King-sized beds with clean bedding add to the comfort, and rooms are available with single beds for solo travelers or twin beds for families and small groups.

The cost is about $100 per person per night. Prices may rise during the high season but remain lower during the off-season. Guests enjoy excellent services, including a dining area that serves both international and African-inspired meals. Buffet breakfast is served in the garden, while lunch and dinner are prepared by skilled chefs in the main building.

A well-stocked bar offers cocktails, wines, spirits, and international beers, which guests can enjoy while relaxing in the garden. Other facilities include free parking with security, laundry services, and Wi-Fi, keeping guests connected with family and friends back home.
