The land of a thousand hills is home to La Locanda Hotel, easily reached by road transport. Road travel is cheap and flexible, letting tourists stop at markets, trading centers, and major cities in Rwanda along the way. Visitors from East African countries can enter Rwanda with only a national ID, while others need a passport.
International visitors usually arrive by air from countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, and Mexico. After landing at Kigali International Airport, they can either drive to the hotel or take a short flight to Ruhengeri Airstrip. From there, it is a 30-minute drive to the hotel. Guests can rest in one of the six spacious self-contained rooms that overlook the Virunga Volcanoes, the same peaks that shelter Volcanoes National Park.
The rooms are built in a traditional African style and decorated with wooden floors. They include flushing toilets, bathrobes, flat-screen TVs, air conditioning, satellite connection, sofa chairs, safety boxes, complimentary bottled water, free toiletries, terraces, and access to a quiet garden. King-sized beds with clean bedding add to the comfort, and rooms are available with single beds for solo travelers or twin beds for families and small groups.
