Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge has 23 self-contained private cottages. Each cottage comes with a fireplace for warmth and includes beds, bathrooms, toilets, furniture, a TV screen, and room service. Everything is designed to make your safari stay comfortable.

Activities you can take part in include:

Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla trekking is one of the main activities and should not be missed. These primates behave in ways that echo human behavior, and studies show they share close genetic ties with us.

Visitors are reminded to keep the gorilla land clean, avoid spreading disease, and keep a safe distance from the animals. Our gorilla trekking rules guide covers these requirements in full. Trekking works best in the dry season, when the paths are easier to walk.

During the long rainy season, trekking gets harder due to slippery trails, mud, and heavy showers. Our rainy season gorilla trekking guide covers what to expect during these months.

Tours to the Twin Lakes (Ruhondo and Burera)

These lakes sit at the base of Mount Muhabura near the border of Rwanda and Uganda, close to Volcanoes National Park. They formed after volcanic eruptions blocked river channels, forcing River Nyabarongo to change its course.

Guests can enjoy boat rides on the lakes, spotting birds such as the African crowned crane, hadada ibis, weavers, African fish eagle, cormorant, sacred ibis, yellow-billed ducks, and storks. The lakes are surrounded by local communities where you may also experience cultural activities like music, dance, and drama.

Tours to Musanze Caves

The Musanze Caves are home to many bats and are best explored with a guide. Following the guide’s instructions keeps this adventure safe.

Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge is a good place to stay while exploring Rwanda’s natural and cultural attractions. Pack the right gear before your trek. Our gorilla trekking packing list covers everything you’ll need on the trail.

Book your stay at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge and pair it with one of our Rwanda gorilla safari packages to plan your full trip, or check our gorilla trekking permit cost guide to budget for your Volcanoes National Park trek.
