Detailed 7-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kampala

Pickup from Entebbe International Airport by our company representative, who will brief you on the 7-day trip ahead. You will be driven to a city hotel for a meal and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Boat Cruise and Night Game Drive

After breakfast, take a four-hour drive to Lake Mburo National Park in western Uganda. On arrival, have lunch and head out for an evening boat ride on the lake.

The boat cruise takes you along the shoreline, where you can see crocodiles, hippos, antelope, and zebra coming to drink from the freshwater lake.

After dinner, head out for a night game drive across the savanna plains of Lake Mburo, where you may spot porcupines, hyenas, hares, bush babies, and serval cats.

Day 3: Game Drive and Optional Cultural Tour

After breakfast at the lodge, set out on a day game drive through the park. Look for zebras, leopards, bush pigs, otters, and antelope species including impala, eland, waterbuck, and bushbuck, along with a range of birds and the water-dwelling sitatunga. Return to the lodge to relax and take in the lake view.

In the evening, join a community guide for a walk through nearby villages to meet the Bahima people, who have lived in this area for generations. Take part in cultural activities such as milking and traditional milk preservation.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi

Travel to southwestern Uganda and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a 6-hour journey with a stop at Lake Bunyonyi for lunch and the view. The lake holds 29 scattered islands, worth a few photos as you take in the cool breeze off the water.

Afterward, continue to the Ruhija sector in the southeastern part of Bwindi.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Experience

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters in Ruhija sector for a briefing on the rules of gorilla trekking.

A valid gorilla permit is required before the trek. You will trek to find your assigned gorilla family, with one hour allowed for close observation once you find them. After the trek, hike back to your camp or lodge to rest.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast at the lodge, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On entering the park, take a game drive through the Ishasha sector, known for its tree-climbing lions.

Drive through the open savanna in search of these lions, along with other wildlife in the sector such as elephants, topi, leopards, and buffaloes.

Day 7: Game Drive, Return to Kampala

On your last day, take a final game drive through the park, looking for elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbuck, leopards, and oribi among others.

Afterward, drive to Kampala via the Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara for lunch, then continue on to Entebbe Airport for your departure.
