Bwindi Backpackers Lodge – Budget Gorilla Trekking Accommodation Uganda

Travel from Kampala city to Bwindi Backpackers Lodge, a budget accommodation that offers care and good services to both local and international guests. The lodge is known for its warm hospitality and affordable amenities. For those who wish to camp and connect more with nature, there is a spacious campsite where you can pitch your own tent or rent one from the lodge. Guests may also need to bring their own bedding such as blankets and sheets.

The lodge also has large dormitories divided into mixed, female-only, and male-only sections. Each dormitory has toilets, bathrooms, and basic toiletries, allowing guests to save money.

Activities available include:

• Visiting the Batwa pygmies
• Guided village walks
• Multi-day guided treks to and from Kisoro via Lake Mutanda
• Walks through Bwindi Forest to the park headquarters at Buhoma

Although the lodge does not have a swimming pool, it offers lively evenings with campfires filled with music, dance, and drama. Tea is commonly served with snacks and buffets, but guests can also order drinks from the bar, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, along with roasted meat. During the day, hot coffee is served with a heavy breakfast, followed by lunch with both local and international meals, and dinner to close the day.

Rooms are simple but comfortable, with room service, free internet, and a restaurant nearby. From the windows, guests can see the bar area. Security is provided, and parking is free and guarded. Accommodation options include single rooms with shared bathrooms, twin rooms with shared bathrooms, and double rooms with shared bathrooms.

The lodge can be reached by bus or private car through Kabale, or directly to Bwindi. There is also a daily shuttle from Kabale to the lodge at 10:30 am and 4:30 pm.
