Day 1: Arrival at Kigali and cross to Uganda – Bwindi

Today, our company representative will pick you up from your lodge, residence, or Kigali International Airport for a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the largest number of endangered mountain gorillas in the world. The park is located in southern Uganda and can be reached in about 3 to 4 hours from Kigali, Rwanda, through the Katuna border post.

Before the drive, you will have a short city tour in Kigali, visiting local markets and the Genocide Memorial site to watch documentaries and pay tribute to the more than 250,000 Tutsi and Hutu people who lost their lives during the 1994 genocide.

The journey to Bwindi is very scenic, with views of green plantations, hills, and the Virunga Mountains in the background.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and departure

The first thing after leaving bed today is a hefty breakfast meal very early in the morning, and then a scenic drive to the park headquarters for a briefing that lasts for about 30-40 minutes. What is done during the briefing includes elaborating the dos and don’ts of Gorilla trekking, document verification, and allocating members to gorilla families of their choice.

Mountain Gorillas are only found in East Africa around the Virunga Mountains, with Bwindi harboring the largest concentrations that are reported to be a bit different from the rest. Gorilla tracking lasts for about 1-8 hours, plus one extra hour in one of the sectors in the heart of the Jungle.

Watching these gentle Apes is very amazing and Unforgettable, the pose of the silverbacks, mothers, and the games of the adolescents draw the attention of the camera and your eyes.

After Gorilla trekking, you will return for lunch at the lodge, before driving back to Kigali for a night flight or stay at your hotel
