Detailed 4-Day Uganda Gorillas & Monkey Trekking Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Early pick up by our guide, have a briefing about the 4 days’ gorillas and golden monkey tour. Travel to south western Uganda via the districts of Masaka, Mbarara, Kabale and finally to Kisoro – the home of Mgahinga Gorilla national park, have an enroute lunch at Igongo cultural center in Mbarara city.

Traverse the beautiful hills of west, the long horned cattle and the beautiful Ankole plantations and residents on your way to Mgahinga Gorilla national park. Arrive at the park; check in at the lodge where you will spend the rest of your evening.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

Wake up early for an ultimate gorilla experience in Mgahinga, after breakfast hike to the parks headquarters for a briefing about the dos and don’ts’ while trekking the gorillas in the jungle. Nyakagezi gorilla family is the only habituated gorilla family in the park with 10 individual gorillas, similar to those you can experience on a 2-day Mga hinga Gorilla trekking tour.

Have a one on one interaction for an hour with the family as you witness them live their interesting lifestyles. See how these gorillas interact with each other, feeding, resting, playing and grooming each other. This is surely a lifetime experience that you will have like no elsewhere in the world. Later on return for a rest at the lodge.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking

Mgahinga national park is one place abundant with primate life in Uganda. Golden monkeys are among the numerous primate species one can explore. After breakfast head out for a hike into the forest searching for these naughty primates.

The golden monkeys are found in the bamboo vegetation of the park, have an encounter as they feed on the tree branches, see how they groom each other swing from brunch to brunch. Take pictures and interact for one hour with the golden monkeys. After return to the lodge as you wait for dinner and an overnight.

Day 4: Depart via Entebbe airport

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and travel back to Kampala for departure back home or to your onward destination.
